National Association of Realtors trying to eliminate flat fee MLS and discount brokers
The passing of minimum service requirements is only proof of the growing awareness for flat fee MLS and discount realtors that allow for sale by owner home sellers to take advantage of affordable marketing avenues. With flat fee MLS you can take advantage of valuable marketing tools that you would normally pay 5-6 percent for when using a traditional broker. Now that flat fee companies and discount brokers are grabbing an increased share of the market, the National Association of Realtors is attempting to intervene in order to prevent future growth of these types of alternative models. As federal agencies argue that NAR is promoting anti-competitive policies, laws are continuing to be passed requiring agents and brokers to provide a minimum level of service as in Tennessee.
