If your home is for sale, there are a few things that you absolutely must do. First, you need to be sure that your asking price is neither too high nor too low. Then, you need to be sure that you’re doing all that you can to advertise – that your home is listed in the MLS and you’ve taken the steps necessary to let buyers with and without real estate agents find the property.
And lastly, if you have a home for sale, you need to hold at least one open house.
To get the most of your open house:
- Remember that your lawn and entryway give prospective buyers the first view of your home;
- Don’t forget the little details – fresh flowers, warm, home-y smells and neatness all make a difference;
- Remember to keep your home clean and tidy, and free of the details that make it yours – in other words, let prospective buyers see your home as a clean slate, some place where they can build a life for themselves; and,
- Have a way of keeping track of how many people have been to your open house and keep ways of staying in touch should they have more questions available.
