According to a Reuters/University of Michigan poll, 76% of consumers polled believe now is a good time to buy a home. Economists in the Reuters poll said the bottom of the housing market has probably been reached. Home prices unexpectedly slipped in December but the annual rate of decline slowed Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller indexes showed on Tuesday. “Since April of 2009 [this is] the most dramatic [housing market] turnaround that we’ve seen in our data all the way back to 1987″, Yale University economics professor Robert Shiller, a creator of the S&P Case-Shiller indexes, said on a conference call.
